Project Structure
Annual evaluation procedure
The children and parents undergo a regular evaluation to provide a yearly update on the child’s education and the family’s poverty situation. The following documents are required:
- poverty declaration from the local authorities
- letter of confirmation from the school board to confirm the child’s attendance
- annual school report
- one passport photo
Complete school phase
To create continuity, each scholarship child is assured a complete school education from 6 – 18 years old:
- primary school (5 years)
- junior high school (4 years)
- high school (3 years)
Every year, the family is evaluated to assess whether they still meet the criteria of the Leprosy Scholarship Foundation. After successfully finishing each school phase, the student is eligible to apply for the next school phase.
Cooperation with the Netherlands Leprosy Relief
The Leprosy Scholarship Foundation works in close collaboration with the Netherlands Leprosy Relief and their staff in Hanoi, Vietnam, who coordinate all the foundation’s logistics, including the selection and evaluation procedure, the yearly fieldwork in the provinces, distribution of finances and internal Vietnamese-Dutch communications. All this is made possible via the valuable work of the provincial and local leprosy healthcare programmes.
